What is menopause?
Menopause is a natural biological process marking the end of menstrual cycles.
Although references to the menopause can be traced as far back as the 1800s, it in the 1930s that menopause started to be described as a deficiency disease. This was when HRT started to be manufactured.
GPs will generally prescribe HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and may also prescribe antidepressants.
However, there is another way to manage the effects of the menopause, and that is naturally. Homeopathy can help with the effects of menopause.
What are the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause?
In the months and years leading up to menopause, known as perimenopause, symptoms are different for every woman. They include irregular periods, hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, fatigue, tiredness and insomnia, weight gain and slower metabolism, anxiety or depression, mood swings, migraines, thinning hair, dry skin or itchy skin.
