How are homeopathic remedies selected?

Homeopathic remedies are chosen to treat the whole person and are used to stimulate the body's own healing ability.  Remedies are selected to fit the characteristics of the individual and specific symptoms. The personal level of health is also taken into account.

Homeopathy is based on the principle of 'like cures like'.  A substance that has caused a disease can also relieve it, if taken in very small quantities.

What happens at a homeopathic consultation?

A homeopath will ask about your specific symptoms and how they affect you.  They will be interested in you as an individual.

There will be questions about:

  • medical history

  • lifestyle

  • diet and food preferences

  • personality

  • sleep patterns

This information will be matched to the symptoms to prescribe particular remedies and 'potencies' of those remedies.

As a guide the first appointment will usually take between 1 and 1.5 hours. 

Follow-up appointments will usually take around 30-45 minutes.

Can I have a homeopathy online consultation?

It is easier than ever to see a homeopath through online consultations.  Virtual appointments are ideal for ‘delicate’ issues that may be easier to discuss online from the comfort and privacy of your own home.  

How many consultations will I need?

The number of appointments you will need depends on the nature of your symptoms and how long you have had them.

Do homeopathic remedies have side effects?

There should be no side effects from homeopathy.  It is possible that there may be noticeable aggravation in very few people.  This can sometimes happen when remedies start to work and symptoms worsen for a short period of time.  

Can I take homeopathic remedies while taking prescribed drugs from my GP?

Yes, homeopathic remedies can be taken while using prescribed drugs in an integrated approach.  

You should not stop taking medication until you have discussed it with your prescribing doctor.

What is the process?
  • We work together to improve your presenting symptoms, as well as your overall health and well-being

  • During your first consultation, I build up a complete picture of your condition, including your past medical history. You will be asked detailed questions about yourself so that I can understand your individual needs and the cause of your symptoms. 

  • After each consultation, I analyse your particular symptoms and choose homeopathic remedies for you that most closely matches your unique pattern of symptoms.  The remedies will then be posted to you.
